Golden Poison Frog
Bright yellow frog only 5 cm long — yet contains enough batrachotoxin to kill 10 adult humans. The most poisonous animal on Earth by toxicity.
Skin contact alone can be fatal if you have any open cut. Indigenous Embera people coat blowgun darts with the toxin. No antivenom.
Pacific lowland rainforests of Colombia (Chocó region) and adjacent eastern Panama.
Diurnal, ground-dwelling. Conspicuous bright color is aposematic warning. Toxicity comes from diet of specific ants/beetles — captive frogs become harmless.
